Spring is Here! Enjoy It at These Washington DC Parks

BY Blog Editor

Finally, spring arrived here in Washington DC on March 20, and we are so ready to enjoy it with hiking, biking and running. Here near our Wray apartments, there are lots of beautiful parks nearby where you can get a dose of fresh air without going too far from home.

Ready to get in the spring spirit and finally get some vitamin D after months spent in your Wray living room? Check out these local parks which offer tons of fun outdoor activities, whether you want to get a workout in or just relax in the sunshine.

Lady Bird Johnson Park, located at Washington Blvd, Washington, DC which is five minutes from your Wray apartment, is a park on Columbia Island which has trails and memorials and plenty of scenery. It’s also part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

Landscape architects have acted subtly on most sections of the parkway, but their work in Lady Bird Johnson Park is a bit like the finale of a fireworks display. Thousands of daffodils and hundreds of tulips trumpet the arrival of each spring and careful compositions of bright hardwood trees highlight the best of fall foliage. Photography, picnicking, and quiet contemplation are ways to enjoy the show at this local green spot.

Stead Park, located at 1625 P St NW, Washington, DC which is 10 minutes from your Wray apartment, is a cozy park offering a playground plus basketball courts, multi-use fields and a recreation center.

Public events such as Summer Movie Mania, an outdoor screening sponsored by the city’s government, are held at the park. Stead Park is also used as a practice field by the Washington Renegades (RFC), the first rugby union club in the United States to recruit gay men and men of color.
