There are a million ways to use apple cider, but one of the favorite ways of those with a sweet tooth has long been to enjoy apple cider doughnuts. However, you don’t need to be an expert baker to get this fall favorite – just head to the local bakery.

Luckily for those craving a bite of these tasty treats, the options of bakeries offering apple cider doughnuts near our Wray apartments is endless. Here are just a few you can head to for a doughnut – or a dozen!

District Doughnut, located at 3327 Cady’s Alley NW, Washington, DC which is eight minutes from your Wray apartment, was founded by Pastry Chef Christine, who takes no shortcuts in crafting delicious gourmet doughnuts.

From the scratch-made vanilla bean yeast dough to each of their pastry creams, jams, glazes and ganaches, she uses only the finest ingredients like Callebaut and Valhrona Chocolates, Dulce de Leche imported from Spain, Nutella, real fruits, milk, eggs and cream. In her words, “you deserve a better doughnut.”

Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, located at 1308 G St. NW, Washington, DC which is nine minutes from your Wray apartment, is a hip grab-and-go serving a rotating roster of inspired doughnuts and creative renditions of fried chicken.

For childhood friends and founders Elliot Spaisman and Jeff Halpern, it all started as a love of hockey and a good old-fashioned fondness for American comfort food. The first native Washingtonians to play for the Washington Capitals, Halpern and Spaisman grew up playing the sport together in Montgomery County, MD, often meeting for a post-game doughnut off the ice.
