Where To Go Pumpkin Picking Near Your Wray Apartment

BY Blog Editor

Whether you’re five or 50, there’s no activity more necessary during October than pumpkin picking! Even though we live in a bustling city, it’s still easy to escape to the many farms that we have on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. for a fun afternoon pumpkin picking with family or friends.

Check out these farms throughout the region for the perfect way to kick off the fall season – and a perfect pumpkin for displaying at your Wray apartment.

Gaver Farm, located at 5501 Detrick Rd, Mt Airy, MD which is one hour from your Wray apartment, is a diversified family farming operation established in 1978 that offers year-round activities including pumpkin picking,

The pumpkin portion of the business started as a small self-serve stand in the front yard in 1998 by 8-year-old son Greg. In 2007, the family expanded the farm stand to include hayrides to the patch for pick-your-own pumpkins and added an agritourism Fall Fun Festival with a corn maze, farm animals and numerous fun and educational activities for families.

Queen Anne Farm, located at 18102 Central Ave, Bowie which is 40 minutes from your Wray apartment, has been growing fresh vegetables for more than 30 years, most of which is sold at the front gate to families driving from neighboring cities.

The farm is a sliver of a traditional family farm that features a seasonal roadside farm stand during produce seasons, and as summer fades, the fall harvest kicks in with a pick-your-own pumpkin patch and a bounty of beautiful autumn vegetables. They specialize in heirloom varieties—tomatoes, peppers, and pumpkins, to name a few— and they don’t use any pesticides.
